Integrating innovation and efficiency with the specific features of the historical and architectural heritage represents the key challenge of the project for the extension of the elementary school "Margherita Sarto Sanson" in Riese Pio X. The intervention activates a complex dialogue with architecture, city and territory. The new building reinterprets in a modern style the historical guidelines of the existing building, identifying it as the protagonist of the entire design. The typological development retraces the shapes of the former complex and arranges the exterior spaces as a place for mediation between the school and the city, a space for playful interaction between interior and exterior, between classrooms and the garden. The continuous interactions engage pupils and teachers in a multitarget inclusive pathway. The users engage in a possibilistic approach, oriented towards innovation and grounded to the principles of the LEED School Protocol Platinum level, by which the design sets an example.
