The project for the new “Mana Valgimigli” Middle School, mends a physical and social wound that includes public spaces, infrastructures and people. The geometries recall the hilly landscape through a roofing that bends in a continuous fold. The building opens to the village through terraces and large curtainwalls, placing nature at the centre of the architectural space. The indoor circulation provides a strong integration between different areas, employing wayfinding devices and signage as new educational devices. The application of “Nature Based Solutions” logics shapes an architecture which is resilient to climate change, making this design an example of energy efficiency.
