The project for the new School of Agriculture of the Science and Technology Campus of Sesto Fiorentino examines the role of the university within the contemporary society. Even more so, it strives to build a set of symbolic features through which to convey the specific research domain into an architectural image. The outcome is a plenteous display, in which grids and alignments describe the fragmentation process of the territory by recalling the agrarian paths and lanes. A design that organizes the urban setting and defines the architectural volumes: a system of pavilions, independent one from the other, yet connected through the circulation volumes. The geometrical regulation strengthens through its own negation. The alternation of the volumes, the rhythm of the facades and the system of the outdoor spaces clearly recall the pattern of the nearby agrarian plots. The technological opulence of the design completes the appearance of the intervention, giving back an iconic, sustainable and integrated vision.
