Description
The executive renovation project of the “Marcello Arlotta” airport in Grottaglie, in the province of Taranto, aims to enhance seismic resilience and improve the aesthetic appeal and energy performance of the building. This will be achieved through the complete replacement of facades and the introduction of technologically advanced systems.
The entire building will feature a unique aesthetic coherence with a local stone finish. The construction of a new tower in the southern part of the terminal will contribute to providing a greater aesthetic balance to the main facade, offering a new independent access to the first floor. The existing tower to the north, dedicated to the Data Processing Center, will undergo a renovation.
Simultaneously, the project aims to optimize the interior spaces of the airport, aligning them with contemporary airport practices and public needs. This will involve a reorganization of the areas for arrivals and departures, without neglecting the entrance hall. Spaces dedicated to security checks and staff will be revised, with the addition of new restroom facilities accessible from various areas.
The redevelopment also extends to the outdoor areas, with the creation of a spacious covered waiting area and the redesign of the parking area and pathways along the perimeter of the entire building.
