Description
Located between the urban fabric and the Pellerina Park, along the Dora Riparia river, the Nuovo Ospedale Torino Nord is conceived as an innovative and sustainable healthcare facility designed to enhance the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
The hospital will cover 60,000 m² and offer 503 beds, featuring a layout that combines functionality with a welcoming atmosphere: a podium building with six towers connected by a central “main street,” extensive green areas, panoramic terraces, pedestrian pathways, and dedicated parking. Inside, in addition to 8 operating theatres, 4 hybrid rooms, 13 diagnostic suites, and the Maternal and Child Department, the project includes inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, specialist units, and communal areas, all designed to maximise efficiency, comfort, and ease of use.
Externally, the architecture blends traditional and contemporary materials, integrating seamlessly with the urban context of Turin: the brick-clad base recalls the local architectural heritage, while the upper floors—lighter and more transparent—alternate fibre-cement panels and glazed façades, hosting patient rooms conceived as domestic-like spaces with generous openings to the outside.
The project places strong emphasis on sustainability, incorporating innovative technological solutions with high energy performance and low environmental impact. At the same time, it acts as an urban connector, harmonising city, landscape, and healthcare spaces.
