”Pietro Santini” Primary School

Description

An important element of the loreto school complex, the reconstruction of the ‘’P. Santini’’ primary school points a spotlight on the construction of a highly energy efficient building.

The heart of the design is the interior courtyard, characterised by mid-air paths that connect the different buildings of the campus and the landscape. Such arrangement is convenient also to the bioclimatic strategy, facilitating control over the interior natural ventilation.

The educational activities are all hosted on the first level and keep a direct visual relation with the valleys of the surrounding landscape. The technological solutions employed for the control of sunlight are integrated in a design that recalls the local architecture both in section and in the main elevation of the building.
