The “Pietro Santini” school is one of the most significant models of reconstruction in the works following the 2016 earthquake in Marche. The building represents an important segment of the campus and is a highly energy-efficient building. The heart of the design is the interior courtyard, characterised by mid-air paths that connect the different buildings of the campus and the landscape. Such arrangement is convenient also to the bioclimatic strategy, facilitating control over the interior natural ventilation. The educational activities are all hosted on the first level and keep a direct visual relation with the valleys of the surrounding landscape. The technological solutions employed for the control of sunlight are integrated in a design that recalls the local architecture both in section and front of the building.
