"Design Temporariness!" is the new installation in collaboration with Materieunite and Material Balance Research of Politecnico di Milano

ATI Project for the second time at Lucca Biennale Cartasia

At Lucca Biennale Cartasia (LubiCa) 2024, ATI Project, Materiunite and Material Balance Research of Politecnico di Milano have created “Design Temporariness!” an installation that emerged from the Master’s thesis project of Federica Pradella, supervised by Prof. Ingrid Maria Paoletti of POLIMI  and Arch. Luca Ofria and ATI Projec’s Research & Development team.

The installation represents a challenge in the development of structures that respond to the surrounding environment and that are adaptable to changes and mindful of resource consumption. It encourages to reconsider traditional construction methods, exploring innovative fabrication techniques and digital prototypes that enhance flexibility and the customization by opting for lightweight, modular and reusable materials.

The study behind the installation demonstrates how, through specific design strategies integrating new principles of circularity, it’s possible to to transition from current practices of demolition and material downgrading to a future model based on disassembly and material reuse.
