Speed, effectiveness and efficiency are the traits that should define an operation in emergency contexts. These are the fundamental characteristics of the “E. Mestica” Educational Centre in Macerata, built to replace the pre-existing school, formerly damaged during the 2016 earthquake. The BIM-oriented approach led to the optimisation of all processes and disciplines accordingly to an integrated method, capable of combining quality and tight deadlines. The prefabricated construction methods employed, including the use of wood, are fundamental to the anti-seismic performance of the structure, and generally affect the quality of the locations and construction duration.
